After Hurricane Florence forced the cancellation of Benedict’s scheduled game at Fayetteville State last week, the Tigers will welcome a Fort Valley State team looking to build on its first win of the season to Charlie W. Johnson Stadium in Columbia, SC, on Sunday.

When: Sunday, Sept. 23, 4:30 PM ET

Watch: LIVE on FloFootball
The last time we saw Benedict in action, the Tigers raced out to a 28-0 halftime advantage and cruised from there, hammering Johnson C. Smith 42-14 for their first victory of the young season.
Quarterback Dominique Harris was outstanding in the win, completing 12-of-18 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns.
Fort Valley State put its first victory on the board last week, courtesy of a Jaylen Lowder touchdown catch-and-run with just 21 seconds left to push the Wildcats past Miles College, 21-19.
Dominique Harris Leads Potent Benedict Offense
Harris has proven to be problematic for opposing defenses thus far in 2018.
The senior from Southaven, Miss., was tabbed as the SIAC Offensive Player of the Week after shredding Johnson C. Smith two weeks ago, leading an offense that piled up 42 points and 480 yards of total offense—both high-water marks during head coach Mike White’s tenure in Columbia.
Harris has completed 60 percent of his throws (28-of-47) for 383 yards and five touchdowns against two interceptions through his first two games of the year.
Lowder Recognized As FVSU Athlete of the Week
On the heels of his game-winning six-yard touchdown catch in the Wildcats’ victory over Miles last week, tight end Jaylen Lowder was recognized as his school’s male athlete of the week.
Lowder had only one catch, but made it count. Before that, he was a key cog on an offensive front that allowed FVSU runners to pile up 146 rushing yards on the day.
Benedict Takes ‘Running Back By Committee’ To Next Level
Junior running back Raheem Jennings currently leads the Tigers on the ground with 79 yards through the team’s first two games, but he’s got plenty of company.
Trini Charlton has received the most carries—26 for 72 yards and a score—and is one of 13 different players to log at least one carry for Benedict thus far. Four different players have gained at least 23 yards on the ground.
